Robert D. "Bob" Tallcott

MENDON, Ill.-- Robert "Bob" D. Tallcott, 81, of Mendon, died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2009) in the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy. Robert was born on Aug. 24, 1927, near Mendon, to Arthur and Anna Taylor Tallcott.
The Rev. Wm. Bill Bailey officiated when he married Fern Staff on Oct. 6, 1948, in the parsonage of the Christian Church of Fowler. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Mendon. Robert graduated from Mendon Township High School in 1945, and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. He was a member of Adams County Farm Bureau and was an EMT at Mendon. He held many offices in the First Congregational Church and taught Sunday School for many years. He always helped at the Mendon Church Adams County Fair food stand and was a six-gallon blood donor for the blood bank in Adams County. He was a lifelong farmer near Mendon.
Surviving are his wife, Fern Tallcott of Mendon; children, Janet (James) Chambers of Macomb, Diann (Kent) Smith of Georgetown, Dennis (Kaye) Tallcott of Pisgah Forest, N.C., Wayne (Deb) Tallcott of Mendon; 11 grandchildren, Amy Chambers of St. Louis, Erin Chambers of Mendon, Ilene Chambers of St. Louis, Jennifer (Shawn) Burnett of St. Joseph, Justin Smith of Danville, Jason Smith of Georgetown, Benjamin Tallcott of Waco, Texas., Amanda (Ryan) Cumbo of Hendersonville, N.C., Jeremy (Lauren) Tallcott of Springfield, Adam and Rebecca Tallcott of Mendon; one great-grandchild; Colin Burnett of St. Joseph; two sisters, Helen (August) Stauffacher of Grapevine, Texas and Doris Sherrick of Golden; two sisters-in-law, Cleta Tallcott of Loraine, and Edith Evans of Loraine; and one brother-in-law, Hubert (Debbie) Staff of Quincy, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold Tallcott; three brothers-in-law. Hubert Sharrow, Neal Sherrick, and Robert Evans, and one nephew, James Tallcott.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday in
the Mendon Congregation Church in Mendon with the Rev. Jack Perdue officiating. Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery in Mendon.

VISITATION: Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. in the Mendon Congregational Church in Mendon.

MEMORIALS: Mendon Congregation Church, Good Samaritan Home, or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
