Hazel Odell (Strickler) Brown, 79, widow of Lankford E. Brown Sr. of 2359 Lee Highway died at 8:08 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 21, 1999) at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville. She was born July 26, 1920 at Greenville, a daughter of Leonard S. Sr. and Thelma (Hawpe) Strickler. She was employed by American Safety Razor Company for 27 years prior to retirement. Her husband of 35 years preceded her in death on July 18, 1983. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Harley S. and Hunter I. Strickler. Survivors include two sons, Lankford E. of Mount Sidney and Lester G. Brown of Bridgewater, a daughter and son in law, Linda B. and Harry A. Hulvey, Jr. of Staunton; two brothers Harold E. of Staunton and Leonard S. Strickler Jr. of Mount Sidney; and two grandchildren Jennifer N. Brown and Jason W. Hulvey. A private graveside service will be conducted Friday at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Stephen A Proctor.
