Sophia was most likely named after her father's oldest sister, Sophia Moseley Chapin (Findagrave Memorial: 50218230).

She married Williams Fowler in Princeton, Illinois on September 16, 1840 in Princeton, IL. They had the following children: Frederick W. (died young at 14 months old), Frederick William, Roland Moseley, Clinton Wells, and Caroline Moseley Fowler. Sophia and Williams Fowler moved to Poweshiek County, Iowa circa 1866, after the Civil War ended from Bureau County, Illinois.

Obituary (from the Brooklyn (Iowa) Chronicle, May 9 1878.

Died, on May 6th, at her home near Brooklyn, Iowa. Mrs. Sophia Chapin Fowler, wife of William Fowler, Esq., and daughter of the late Roland Moseley of Princeton, Ill., aged 64 years, 5 months and 24 days.

Mrs. Fowler was born in Westfield, Mass., and came to Princeton, Ill., in 1831. She was married in 1840 and came with her husband and children to Iowa in 1865. One beloved son preceded his mother to the grave, dying at the age of 23 years. Her husband with two sons and a daughter, remain in the saddened home. For more than three years before she "fell asleep," Mrs. Fowler was a confirmed invalid, being unable to leave the house and yet by her constant thoughtfulness and cheerfulness, she continued to contribute greatly to the comfort and happiness of the family circle. Having acknowledged Christ as her Saviour, by uniting with the first Presbyterian church in Chicago, in 1841, unostentatiously but faithfully and lovingly, she sought to exemplify His teachings, in her daily life. How well she succeeded in her efforts, is shown by the happy influence she exerted not only in the home circle, but also over all with whom she associated as friends or neighbors. Most tenderly is her memory cherished, by her bereaved family, and in the precepts she exemplified; the best of all works "do follow her."
