Emily Moseley Chandler died of pernicious anaemia at Arlington, Hot Springs, Arkansas, on the third day of November, 1893. She was the wife of E. Bruce Chandler, a well known electrician of Chicago, and youngest child of Roland Moseley, late of Princeton, Ill, and his wife, Caroline Coburn of Bradford, Penn. Roland Moseley will be remembered by our older citizens as a conspicuous character in the early history of Bureau County. Coming from Westfield, Mass. in 1831 to Illinois, he made his home near the place where Princeton was afterward built, and once became a marked and influential man amongst the pioneers. Emily Moseley came of a family noted for ability, kindness and hospitality, and in her cultured home ripened into a refined and most lovable woman. Truthfulness, gentleness, and a complete absence of pretense, supreme and rare possessions, gained for her many friends in girlhood days, and later made for her steadfast friends in the scenes to which she was introduced by her marriage in 1872. Through all her life a loyal and loving regard for early home and friends never lessened, and when the end came flowers from her birthplace were appropriately given chief place among the tributes heaped about her. There was a large attendance at the ceremonies at the Chandler residence, on Indiana Ave., when her friend and pastor, Bishop Cheney, paid high tribute to the worth of one who sweet spirit and ready help were well known to those whose lot was less fortunate than her own, and which will hallow our thoughts of her through the years. Her noble life will be the right legacy of her family and the sweet legacy of her friends. Two children mourn the loss of this devoted mother; Alice, who is at the Chicago home, and George Moseley Chandler, a student at the University of Michigan. Mrs. Chandler was a student of Ann Sill, of Rockford Seminary, and was a member of the Rockford Association of Chicago.
