DIED---at North Mt. Pleasant, Marshall County, Mississippi, on the 18th inst (Oct.), Mrs. Narcissa Cleere, wife of R. H. Cleere, and daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Evetts.
She was born in Greenville District, South Carolina, August 18, 1823; married in Lawrence County, Alabama, August 15, 1842. She was a lady endowed with great energy of character, was kind hearted, pleasant in her intercourse with all, and an ornament to the circle in which she moved. She was a true friend, a devoted wife, an affectionate mother and a consistent Christian.
She had been a member of the Baptist Church for the last ten years, and evinced, during her protracted illness the spirit of a true Christian, by declaring, when the shades of death were gathering thick around her, that she was resigned willing to go at her Maker's summons. Though a resident of this place but a short time, her loss is deeply felt by a large circle of friends who knew her but to love her. What shall we say then of her disconsolate husband and her seven sorrow stricken children--the youngest a babe but a few weeks old.
We leave them to God, knowing that He alone can bind up the broken heart.
