SARAH EMILY ARCHER
Sarah Emily Patterson was born in Cottageville, Mason county, West Virginia, Sept. 24, 1866 and passed away at her home in Glasco, Kansas January 30, 1930, being 63 years, 4 months, and 6 days of age.
When in the tender years of youth her family moved with her to Jackson county, West Virginia. At the age of 18 she visited relatives in Omaha, Neb. and tarried there a ??? of four years, after which she located at Grand Junction, Colorado.
At the age of 23 she was married to John Oldham. To this union three daughters were born. Two died in childhood. One, Ida, resides at present in Omaha, Nebraska.
In the month of Sept. 1921, she was united in marriage to C.G. Archer and became a loving wife and companion and devoted mother to his children. She was always broadminded and affectionate, standing for what was right. They made their home in Glasco, Kansas the major portion of this time.During the fall of 1925 her health began to fail but her last illness was of very short duration. Her last conscious moments were filled with thoughts for the comfort and welfare of her loved ones.
About the age of 18 Mrs. Archer was converted and united with the Christian Church and remained a faithful member till her Savior called her home. She was a member of the W.C.T.U. and deeply interested in the activities of the various Churches of the town and everything that made for the uplift of the community.
Those left to mourn her passing are the husband, Mr. C.G. Archer; one daughter, Mrs. Ida Wood; seven step-children, Mr. Lee Archer of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Ross Hare and Mrs. Frank McBane of Glasco; Mrs. Charles Beck of Salina; Mrs. Walter Smith, Mrs. D. G. Minner, and Mrs. Dillard Swann of Calif.; an aged mother, two sisters and three brothers living at Parkersburg, West Virginia; 11 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Archer and family are well known and highly respected as citizens of honesty and honor, he having spent a number of years here as a successful lumberman. They have the sympathies of all.
Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church by Rev. Albert D. Hall, assisted by Rev. R.R. Kaiser. Interment was in Glasco cemetery.
