-After an illness of several months duration, Samuel P Summers died at his home north of town last Friday, February 10th, and was buried the next day. The funeral service was held at the family home conducted by Mr. Rev. Collier. Deceased was born in Shelby County Ill. and born Dec. 17, 1847, being at the time of death 51yrs, 1 month, 24 days of age. With his parents he came to Missouri in 1851, settling in Putnam County, and has since been one of its best citizens. He was one of a family of eleven children, four of whom survive him. They are Mrs. Sarah C Bradshaw, G.A. Summers, C.I. Summers and Mrs. Louisa Moore. February 5th, 1868, he was married to Surilda Bradshaw and to there union were born nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Summers united with the Christian Church in 1886 and was ordained in the ministry in 1893. He served three terms as justice of the peace in his township and in all respects conducted himself as a good citizen and a God fearing man. May he rest in peace.
