Mrs. Surilda Jane Davis, 92, widow of C.C. Davis, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rest Haven home, 820 Pershing avenue.
Born April 23, 1851, in Shelby county, Ill., she was the daughter of George and Roseanna Bradshaw. She was married to Samuel Summers February 6, 1868, and he died February 16, 1899. In August of 1904 she was married to C.C. Davis, who died in 1926. Mrs. Davis had been a resident of Ottumwa for 17 years.
Two daughters, Mrs. Ica Van Kirk and Etta Summers, preceded her in death.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Armada Fortune, Unionville, Mo.; Mrs. Anna Kysor and Mrs. Versa Orman, both of Ottumwa; four sons, Simon Summers, Tulsa, Okla.; Lenus, Charles and Virgil Summers, all of Ottumwa; a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Pinson, Unionville, Mo.; 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Carroll Reece funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Charles McDowell of the Fundamental Baptist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
