Emma Leonore Stewart.

Mrs. Emma Leonore Stewart, beloved wife of Charles M. Stewart, died in Gardnerville, Nevada, Thursday morning, June 7, 1917, aged 62 yeasr, 6 months and 9 days, and in her passing a woman of a splendid type and rare character is lost to this section.

She was born in San Francisco, November 29th, 1854. Her parents were the late Louis and Dorothea Wedertz. When she was 5 years old she came to this section with her parents and settled at Sulphur Springs, Nevada, then later, in 1866, the family moved to Aurora, finally settling in this valley seven years later. On February 3, 1874 she was married to Charles McCloud Stewart, who survives her. Of this union three children were born. At her home in Bridgeport and happy in her family duties she continued her residence here until she was taken ill last October. So serious had her illness become by November, that she was taken to San Francisco for medical aid...

The funeral services were held at the home of Judge and Mrs. Pat R. Parker at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Attorney Mark H. Edwards officiating and paying a well merited tribute to the memory of the deceased... At the close of the services an unusually long procession followed the funeral car to our silent city where interment was made in the family plot...

Mrs. Emma Leonore Stewart is survived by her husband, Charles M. Stewart; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Maud Berryessa and Mrs. Emma Grace Parker; a son J. Wesley Stewart; four sisters, Mrs. Louisa C. Brandon, Mrs. Nellie Towle, Mrs. Dora Cargill and Mrs. Bertha Logan; three brothers, C. E. Wedertz, Clarence Wedertz, and Frank L. Wedertz; and two grand-children.
