Cove Woman Passes At Home
COVE - Mrs. Harriet Armia Skidmore Bair, 79, wife of Hyrum Lester Bair, died at her home in Cove, Saturday evening after a lingering illness.
She was born April 15, 1871, in Richmond, a daughter of William L. and Sarah Aemina Knapp Skidmore. When her mother died in 1891, she assumed responsibility in her father's home of 10 children until her marriage to Mr. Bair, June 9, 1897 in the Logan LDS temple.
Mrs. Bair served in various LDS auxiliaries and twice as captain of John Comish camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She assisted her husband during the 14 years he served as bishop.
Survivors include her husband, four sons and one daughter: Marion Lester Bair, Melvin B. Bair and John S. Bair, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Berdie Leora Ashton, Malad, Ida.; and Horace Wendell Bair, Layton; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; the following brothers and sisters: William A. Skidmore and Malinda A. Esplin, Preston, Ida.; Justin A., Charles H. and Earl L. Skidmore and Osina Skidmore, Salt Lake City; George W. Skidmore and Mrs. Ada Jensen, Logan; Edwin Wilbur Jensen, Santa Ana, Calif.; Elmer G. and Cyrus R. Skidmore, Richmond; Mrs. Elsie S. Allen, Cove.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the new LDS ward chapel by Joseph Day, bishop. Friends may call at the family home this evening and Tuesday evening until time of services. Burial will be in Richmond cemetery under direction of Webb mortuary, Preston.
