He married Ethel Fowler in 1919.
Mr. Robertson, before his retirement in 1962, was employed by Babb’s Hardware, Twin Oaks Lumber Company and American Steel Company. He was also a partner with Harry Ruth in a paint and supply company.
He served in World War I in the U.S. Army 65th Artillery at Saint-Mihiel and the Argonne Forest. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Robertson’s father’s family came to Lane County with the Zumwalt Wagon Train in 1851, and his mother’s family arrived in 1853 with the McClure Wagon Train. Robertson was the last survivor if the family of Rufus and Louisa (Bond) Robertson - daughters, Nora Wells and Mary Danner, and sons Wayne, W.R. “Will”, Glen, Neil, Carl Bob, and John. The seven brothers owned and operated the 480 acre 7-R Ranch near Lorane for many years on property that was formerly owned by their grandfather. The 7 families spent weekends at the ranch. It was the site of many reunions of the Zumwalt and Bond families.
Survivors included 2 daughters, Gena Delzell of Nashville, Tennessee and Joanne Van Keppel of Overland Park, Kansas. He had 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, May 2, 1988, at SPRINGFIELD MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 7205 Main St., with Pastor John Mark Moore officiating. (Rev. Moore was a distant cousin of Mr. Robertson.)
He was buried beside his wife, Ethel, in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
