Virgil Plunkett was born Sept. 10, 1904 in Palestine, IL to David Watt Plunkett and Rosa Ella (Walker) Plunkett, and raised in the Wabash Valley of Illinois and Indiana.
About 1920, at the age of 16, he left for North Dakota to work on a farm in McLean County for another family that was from Indiana, and in 1926 he moved into Bismarck, ND.
1928 Virgil married Clementine Baumgartner at Bismarck, ND. They had three children; William V., Margaret L., and Carolita T..
1946 Virgil married at Wibaux, MT to Leda M. Kuster from Beulah, ND
1950 Virgil married at Bismarck, ND Salomina (Sally) Pflugrath and had one daughter, Kathleen L.
During his years in Bismarck, some places Virgil worked were the Blue and White Cab Co., Palm Garden, deliveryman for Barsol Delivery, Roosevelt Bar, George Cristo's Jolly George at the Sweet Shop location, he was a fireman for a time, and a guard at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck.
He was a member of the American Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge.
Virgil Plunkett died in Bismarck on Oct. 29, 1952 at age 48.
