Margaret "Peggy" Louise Plunkett was born at her mother's family's farm in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan, Canada on December 27, 1930 to Virgil L. and Clementine C. (Baumgartner) Plunkett. At the age of six, the family moved back to Bismarck, ND.
She attended St. Mary's elementary school, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1949. During her high school years, she worked as a waitress at the Sweet Shop and as an operator at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.
She married Wilbert V. Wegner (son of David and Frieda Herrmann Wegner) in Bismarck on May 11, 1950 and briefly moved to his family's farm in Mercer County, ND where they farmed for about two years. After the birth of their first son, they returned to Bismarck where they spent the remainder of their lives. Two more sons and three daughters were born to them in Bismarck.
Peggy served as a Cub Scout Leader and also a Brownie Leader while her children were very young. After her youngest started school, Peggy went to work. Delighting in her positions as clerk/cashier, she made very warm and close connections with customers she served. Through those years she held positions at the Gold Bond Stamp Co., the Fabric Shop, J. C. Penny's, Warehouse Market, and K-Mart.
The life-long selfless love and support she provided to her family and friends will be forever cherished.
In addition to her husband, Wilbert, Peggy was survived by two sons, three daughters, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Bill Plunkett and Carolita Nelson, and her oldest son James L. Wegner.
