Wes married Edna Beck in Shelby County, Illinois December 28, 1896. Wes moved his family to Laramie, Wyoming in September of 1910 from San Antonio, Texas and went to work for Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer in 1911.

Wes died at 57 years old, having suffered a severe stroke which kept him bedridden for four months.
