David Reavill was struck by lightning on 13 oct 1853, and he died according to the History of Crawford Co IL, page 797 and family members, it is not known why David come to IL which took place in 1810 making his home in Kaskasia, which was then the capital of the territory. In 1812 he went to Vincennes, IN and became a Tanner there. He moved to Palestine, IL where he followed the tanner trade.
