Elizabeth was the third wife of Dr Henry Ware, well known theologian and divinity professor at Harvard; they married Sep 18, 1807 and had nine children from 1808 to 1826, all but two surviving to adulthood. Edward Augustus (1809) died in infancy and Edward Proctor (1816) drowned in the Charles River at age nine.

Elizabeth's parents were Nicholas Bowes (Oct 20, 1737 to 1790) and Rebecca (Wendell) Bowes (~1740 to ~1800). Nicholas was the son of Rev Nicholas Bowes (128467112) and Lucy (Hancock) Bowes (128466787.

Elizabeth was also a first cousin of Henry Ware's first wife, Mary Clarke.
