Newberry - Nancy Nichols Long, 95, of Newberry, SC died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. The family will receive friends at Silverstreet Lutheran Church on Sunday, December 28 from 1:30 until 2:30 PM. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday at Silverstreet Lutheran Church by the Rev. Harry Crout. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Born on July 22, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Wade and Daisy Butler Nichols. Mrs. Long was a lifelong member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church. Because of her love for the church, she rarely missed church services while she was able. She was also a member of WELCA Circle #2. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker, and always saw good in everyone. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Nancy Shahid of Mt. Pleasant, Anna Bedenbaugh and Luther Long (Denise), both of Newberry; grandchildren, Joe Shahid (Michelle), Nan Butler (Jason), Julie Taylor (Bryan), Jill Bedenbaugh, Becky Bedenbaugh, and Jared Long (Kristina); great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Michel, Fredi, Blaise, Eva, and John Shahid, Alexis, Emmie, and Will Butler, Sarah Kate, Luke, and Jack Taylor and Hudson Long; brother Lewis Nichols (Norma) of Mt. Pleasant; and a sister-in-law, Mabel Nichols of Silverstreet. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Homer F. Long; a great-granddaughter, Maci Long; son-in law, Michel Shahid; five sisters; and three brothers.
