Second wife of Alanson Knox Hawks. It was her first marriage, at age 50, and she was a younger sister of his first wife.

Obituary -- Thursday, July 29,1915, Springfield Republican, pg 15:
The body of Mrs Eliza Adelaide (Rice) Hawks, 68, widow of Alanson K Hawks of Shelburne Falls will be taken to Shelburne Falls this afternoon at 3.56 for burial at Arms cemetery. Mrs Hawks died early Tuesday morning at the home of Miss M Alice Pierce in Chicopee after a long illness. She was born in Rowe April 1, 1847. For several years she was a teller in Shelburne Falls savings bank. She was the second wife of A. K. Hawks, who for many years was the respected and efficient treasurer of that institution. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs Sarah Goodnow of Wellesley and Mrs Maria Roberts of Sunderland, and three brothers Dr F. R. Rice of North Adams, Albert Rice of Northampton, and Jason Rice of Springfield. Charles W Rice[sic - Hawks], cashier of Shelburne Falls National bank, is a stepson. The funeral will be held in Chicopee today at noon and burial will be in Arms cemetery, Shelburne Falls. Rev. R. E. Hunt will read the committal service.
