His wife Delia, was his first cousin. In 1905 he and his mother, Francis Parks Condit went back to South Dakota by train for the funeral of Martin Luther Parks, his uncle. That is when he met Delia Ida Belle Parks for the first time, she was 12 years old, and he said he would marry that young women. He did, seven years later.
