Gerald L. "Jay" Kooser, 86, Perry, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at his home. He was born July 4, 1924 at Vermillion, KS., the son of Burt L. and Blanche Irene Craig Kooser. He was a 1942 graduate of Valley Falls High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving from 1945 to 1946. Gerald worked as an Instrument Specialist for Farmland Industries Co-Op in Lawrence for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Perry Christian Church and had served as a School Board member for U.S.D. #343 in Perry. He was married to Florence I. Hull on May 20, 1945 at Ft. Leavenworth, she survives at home. Survivors also include, three sons, Mike (Dale) Kooser, Ozawkie, Bob (Karen) Kooser, Berryton, Ronnie (Cathy) Kooser, Cleveland, MO., one Daughter, Kim (Ted) Wiles, Tonganoxie, a brother, Burton Kooser, Basehor, nine Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and three Great-Great-Grandchildren. A Visitation Gathering Service will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Saturday, September 25, at Perry Christian Church, Perry. Inurnment Grave Side Services will be at 5:00 PM, Monday at Underwood Cemetery, Williamstown.
