Opal grew up in rural Dundy County and graduated from Benkelman High School in 1932.
Opal trained as a licensed practical nurse at the Stratton Hospital and had a rewarding nursing career.
She was united in marriage to Leonard Lyle Dunn on Nov. 23, 1943 in McCook, Nebraska and made McCook her home from 1945 until 2003. She then moved to North Platte, Nebraska, and in 2009 moved to Brentwood to be close to family.
Opal loved to sew and quilt and has left a wonderful legacy of her craft to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on July 31, 1986.
Opal is survived by her daughter Marcia and husband, Mickey Traner of Rio Vista, California; granddaughter, Dasha and husband, Brian Dooley; and great-granddaughter, Ashley Dooley of Antioch, California; brother, Harold Allen of Adams, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
