Lenore W. Burke, 89, of North Platte passed away June 8, 2008 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
She was born May 5, 1919, on the farm northwest of Benkelman to Marshal "Grant" and Leota Priest Allen. She attended Dundy County Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1938. She taught school for 10 years.
On Feb. 21, 1949, she married Keith Burke. She stayed home to raise her family until 1962 when she resumed her teaching career at Washington School in North Platte. She taught at Washington School (usually third grade) for 24 years, retiring in 1985.
She attended the First Baptist Church and was also a lifetime member of the Parent-Teacher Association, Business and Professional Women, and Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, gardening and children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Teressa (Brent) Franken of Wood River, NE; her sons, William (Leslie) Burke of North Platte and Michael (Michelle) Burke of Parker, Colo.; a sister, Opal Dunn; a brother, Harold Allen; eight grandchildren, Jason (Mikki) Burke, Keith (Amanda) Burke, Cameron, Stephen and Kelli Burke, Joe (Melissa) Evans, John (Jess) Evans and Sally (Gio) Ibarra; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Janice Seibert and Jeanne Moss; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Keith; her parents; a sister; and two brothers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Wiles officiating.
Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
