Dorothy F. Clauson was born September 28, 1900, at Sanborn, New York, the daughter of the Rev. B.S. and Florence Stover Greene. She was raised in various towns in New York and later in Iowa where ever her father's church transferred him. She was graduated from the Arthur High School with the class of 1918. After her graduation, Dorothy taught for a few years in the rural schools in Crawford County.
On February 17, 1922, Dorothy was united in marriage with John Eldon Clauson at Denison, Iowa. They made their home in the Kiron area and it was there their two children, Wallace and Dolores were born. In 1943, they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where Dorothy was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse, privately for ten years and then at the St. Paul Church Home for sixteen years. John died July 28, 1967 and Dorothy continued to reside in St. Paul until 1973 when she returned to Kiron.
In June of 1981 she moved to the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison and later was transferred to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison where her death occurred Friday evening, August 28, 1981. At the time of her death, Dorothy had attained the age of 80 years, 11 months.
She was a member of the Kiron Baptist Church.
Including her husband John, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by one son, Wallace Clauson of San Jose, California, one daughter, Dolores, Mrs. Bruce Paulson of Mankato, Minnesota, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Fidelia Lindberg of Ida Grove, and one brother, Balcomb Greene of New York City. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 1981, at the Kiron Baptist Church in Kiron, Iowa, with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Comfort in music was provided by Mrs. Delmar Mauritz as soloist and Mrs. Ferne Wilson as organist.
Casket bearers included Larry Waldemar, John Finstrom, John Wesley Larson, Dennis Gustafson, Paul Lindgren and Adelbert Sjogren. Burial was in the Kiron Cemetery at Kiron.
