Upon the death of her mother in 1900, Hannah was raised in Sweden, returning to the United States at the age of 16. She migrated to the San Francisco Bay area with her husband and three children in 1938. In addition to raising a family, she worked as a baker of pies, cakes and pastries in Berkeley, CA.
