He was born March 6, 1928, at Winamac, Ind., the son of Clarence and Clara Foust.
Don lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He worked for years for Wonder Bread Co. (the kids called him the Hostess Cake Man). He was an excellent mechanic and maintained the trucks at Wonder Bread.
In the early 1990s Don delivered meals for the Southwest Church of Christ. He later delivered food for a program at Crowley's Ridge Development Council, then would volunteer for four hours each day helping wherever needed.
He also worked as a food delivery driver for St. Bernards Senior Life Center several hours a day, delivering hot meals and frozen foods to senior life centers in Lake City, Monette and Caraway, retiring at the age of 79.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Loyal Order of
the Moose Lodge. He was a very active member of Apple Hill Church of Christ in Jonesboro,
and since moving to Harrisburg he attended the Harrisburg Church of Christ.
He and his wife Irene were married on Oct. 2, 1997, and they enjoyed 13 years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Clara Foust; two sisters, Grace Parish and Agnes Newberry; one brother, Jim Foust; and his first wife, Jane Smith Foust.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Foust of the home; two brothers, Gene Foust of Elkhart, Ind., and K.O. Foust of South Bend, Ind.; five sisters, Opal Nickel, Helen White and Carolyn Foust, all of Mishawaka, Ind., Iris Schmidtendorff of Mottville, Mich., and Lois Krah of Bristol, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Sandra Myers of Marked Tree and Margie Douglas of Heber Springs; one stepson, Bill Foster of Nashville, Tenn.; three loving nieces, Patricia, Donna and Marla; a large host of other family members and friends; and one very much loved little dog, Baby.
Funeral services were held at Gregg-Weston Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with Al Parr officiating. Burial was in Ransom Cemetery at Jonesboro under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg.
Active pallbearers were; Gary Vanderbilt, Chris Ellis, Jim McLaughlin, Bob Myers, Jimmy Douglas and Bill Foster.
