Alfonso Hampton, 92, died Monday at Brentwood Health Care in Dallas. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Street Christian Church, Greenville, with Rev. Gilbert Gentry officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.
Born March 3, 1910, in Greenville, he was the son of Louis and Hattie Hampton. He married Octelia Fluellen.
Mr. Hampton was a member of Bonnieview Christian Church in Dallas.
He is survived by two sons, Willard Hampton and Timothy Hampton of Dallas; daughters, Lillie Redic, Ernestine Bowens and Frenchie Hampton, all of Dallas; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter and two sons.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Grundy Funeral Home.
