Obituary - Joanna C. Messerschmitt, schools music supervisor
Services for Miss Joanna C. Messerschmitt of 425 Greenwood Avenue, who died Sunday, will be held from the Ullrich Funeral Home at 425 Greenwood Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Church, 31 West Front Street, at 9:30.
Miss Messerschmitt was a graduate of the Trenton High School and the New Jersey State Normal School. She attended New York University, the Juilliard School of Music and received a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University.
She taught music and mathematics in Trenton junior high schools and Cathedral High School. She was supervisor of music for the Trenton schools and director of the St. Francis Medical Center Nursing School glee club and director of the choir at Immaculate Conception Church.
She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association, the Mercer County Education Association and the Mount Carmel Guild.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Helen M. Ullrich of Trenton, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening.
