CLAUDE C. DALBY DIES IN SCOTIA REST HOME; SERVICES AT ARCADIA
Funeral services for Claude C. Dalby were held at the Arcadia Congregational Church, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Mr. Dalby died in a Scotia rest home, Dec. 4, 1965, following a lingering illness. He was 77 years old.
The Rev. Jacob Merrill officiated at the services. Mrs. Albert Lutz and Mrs. Vila Smith, as a duet, sang, "Looking This Way," and "Nearer The Cross." Mrs. Ina Woody was the organist.
Pallbearers were Clayton Dunlap, Loren Gabriel, Edward Paider, James Pokorney, Frank Sybrant and Louis Wajda. Burial was in the Arcadia Cemetery. Hastings-Pearson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are two sons, Delmer of Santa Ana, Calif., and Ralph of Reading, Pa.; one daughter, Mrs. Doris Hill of Arcadia; two brothers, Thomas of North Loup and Elmer of New Castle, Del.; one sister, Mrs. Florence McMichael of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sons, Marion and Vernon.
Claude Charles Dalby was born near Greeley, March 8, 1888. His parents were Charles and Amy Elizabeth Weller Dalby.
Mr. Dalby was married to Nellie Hughes at Arcadia, Sept. 4, 1910. Mrs. Dalby died in June of 1942.
Mr. Dalby came to Arcadia as a young man where he farmed until retirement in 1960. Since that time he had made his home in Arcadia until a year ago when he moved to a rest home in Scotia. He had been a member of the Arcadia Congregational Church for the past 40 years.
