Mr. Silas B Aston died at his home near Old Houlka Saturday night, Feb. 18, 1933, after a rather extended illness.

He was in the 82nd year of his life.

In the passing of Mr. Aston, Chickasaw County loses one of her best citizens. He has reared a large family of splendid boys and girls, who, with their families, are numbered among the best citizens of North Mississippi and Arkansas.

Mr. Aston was twice married. The first marriage took place on Dec. 24, 1872, and the second marriage was on March 3, 1886.

While Mr. Aston was a splendid citizen from every standpoint, his religious life was the most noteworthy. His devotion to God was most profound; his love for the Church of Christ was most pronounced, and his loyalty and devotion to his own church was little less than marvelous.

He united with the Presbyterian Church at Friendship in 1867, at the age of 16 years. He was ordained a ruling elder in the Friendship church, and when he moved his membership to Houlka about 1875, he was elected an elder in that church. So, he was an elder in the church for probably more than 60 years. Truly a "Prince in Israel" has fallen.

He was indeed a most lovable character, a kind and devoted husband and father—a man whom everybody that knew him loved.

The funeral service was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock by his pastor, assisted by Rev. J E McJunkin, president of Chickasaw College. Interment followed at Wesley Chapel.

By his friend and pastor who loved him, W F Patch.
