Diuguid's records show Alexander owned Plot: range 3 lot 3 that his grandson William King Trigg was buried in. It also shows Alexander being buried in the lot next to this owned by Howell Davies (range 3 lot 4) where the Davies and Walker families are. Alexander's daughter Sarah was married to Col Benjamin P Walker, they are buried in the next lot (Range 3 Lot 5 ). Alexander's other daughter, Lelia Maria Tompkins Lee is in the next lot (Range 3 Lot 6). As of now we are still looking for Alexander's wife, Elizabeth Byrd who died in 1839 and who should be in Lynchburg.

From writings about Daniel Trigg,
grandson of Alexander Tompkins:

Thus, it must have been a tragic
loss to this ten-year-old boy when
his father died at the early age of
forty-five on February 2, 1853.
It must have been doubly difficult
for his mother; she was left with
five children to raise, the youngest
only eighteen months old. Mrs. Trigg
moved her young family to her father's
house in Lynchburg, Virginia. They
lived for several years there with
their grandfather, Alexander Tompkins,
who most likely provided emotional and
financial support to the widowed mother.
