David was the son of David Bennett and Elizabeth Crandall of the Tiverton, Rhode Island Crandall family.

1860 Jun 16 Census PO Port Ontario, Richland, Oswego, NY: BENNETT, David 46 Master Carpenter RE $5,400/Pers. 2,500; Rosetta B 32; Rhoda A 22; Janette B 19; Emily V 18; Ellen E 13; Edward 8; Warren 4; Phebe 2.

Son Warren was biographed in book "Arcadia's Laughter and Tears" there may also be a story about David & Rosetta.

1885 Census Jun 14th, Blaine, Adams, Nebraska: Bennett, David 72 farmer, Rosetta 57 wife, Truman 18 son farm work, Jessie 14 son farm work.

Louis Woods, son of W. M. Woods, who had gone to Arcadia, Neb. to visit his grandfather, David Bennett, sent back a poem which began
"I am going out West,
Just when I think best,
To grow up with the country, you know;
Out on the prairie,
Away from the dairy,
Where the cyclone and the hurricane blow."
