Funeral Monday for Ida Schorg
Mrs. Leonard (Ida) Schorg, 82, of Remsen died Friday, Dec. 24, 1982 at the Orange City municipal hospital after a brief illness.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here. Rev. Robert McClintock officiated and burial was in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral home.
Mrs. Schorg, the former Ida Mairose, was born May 19, 1900 at Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Barney and Anna (Hackman) Mairose.
She grew up and was educated at Alton and later lived at LeMars where she was employed by Dr. O’Toole until her marriage to Leonard Schorg on Nov. 30, 1938. After her marriage the couple lived in Remsen.
She had resided at Happy Siesta nursing home since the fall of 1979.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, all of Remsen.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis and Paul of Remsen; a daughter, Ms. LaDonna Singer of LeMars; 16 grandchildren; one great-grand daughter; a brother, Ben Mairose of LeMars and a sister, Mrs. Jack (Mary) Lichteig of Sioux Falls, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leonard on June 14, 1977; a brother, Henry; five sisters, Mrs. Anton (Kathryn) Duster, Mrs. William (Ann) Kellen, Mrs. Bill (Elizabeth) Heissel, Mrs. Harm (Emma) Johnson and Mrs. Frank (Rose) Lichteig.
Pallbearers were Derek Langel, Gary, Jeff, Pat and Rick Schorg and David Singer.
