James Jackson Carter Dies At Residence

James Jackson Carter, 74, retired farmer of Armuchee Rt. 1, died at his residence at 5:05 a.m. following an illness of four years.

He was born in Whitfield County Aug. 21, 1882, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stonewall Jackson Carter and had been a resident of Floyd County for 32 years, coming here from Gordon County.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, the former Rosie Callie Neal, to whom he was married Aug. 16, 1909; seven sons, N.O. of Crystal Springs, Hulit, Ralph and Dennis of Rome, B. W. Chattanooga, Ewell; Sherman, Texas and Lewis Andrew Carter of Rome Rt. 1: four daughters, Mrs. Clifford Lewis, Chickamauga, Mrs. Junior Everett, Everett Springs, Mrs. J. C. Dutton, Rome and Mrs. Raymond Young, Rome Rt. 2; one brother, W. J. Carter, Armuchee Rt. 1; one sister, Mrs. Lee Hyde, Rockmart; one half-brother, Judson Carter, Atlanta, and two half sisters, Mrs. Ely Hyde, Atlanta and Mrs. Lester Pope of Lindale. Thirty-seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Jennings Funeral Home.
