Uncle Mitchell was first married to Margaret CLARK & married secondly to Emma WILSON.

Uncle Mitchell was featured on the cover of "Southern Delaware Magazine" Sep 1991 as well as in an article inside the magazine, "Long Neck Road" beginning on page 20: "A look at Long Neck yesterday and today - from Pot Nets to Short's Marine to Leisure Point" by Kim Hoey. The article was about the expansion of the area of Long Neck Road. Following are portions of the article.

"There's a small sign that hangs underneath Mitch Gannon's mailbox. The simple words, 'Gannon's Dream' are etched into the rustic wood sign.

"Beyond the mailbox lies Gannon's small cedar-sided home fronted by a meticulously groomed lawn. Rows of hibiscus bushes and a lush, bountiful garden hint at the old farmer's roots.

"Mitch Gannon has watched it all. When he moved to Long Neck Road 35 years ago to work a large farm, there were some six houses dotting the landscape. His son Bob described the area as ‘moving into a wilderness.'

"In those simpler days, Mitch knew everyone along Long Neck Road. Now he says he has long since given up trying to keep up with all the changes.

"'The only thing I know about his road now is if you follow the black top, you'll get to water,' Mitch said as he lights another fragrant bowl of tobacco in his pipe.

"Amazingly, Gannon is untouched by all that has sprung up around him. He has his own land with his children right next door."
