James Alexander Patterson Jr. was born on 5-11-1885 in (probably Oktibbeha Co.) MS. Around 1888 the family moved to an area west of Abilene, TX. On 4-8-1903 he married Etta Ann Berry. She was born on 5-27-1882. Their children were Clesby, Comer, Lester, Jim, and Evelyne Louise. They lived around Stith and Merkel. James bought and sold cattle. In later years he owned the Patterson Grain Elevator.James was the tallest of the Patterson brothers. He was 6'7" tall. He was even taller when he wore his Texas gallon hat. Etta Patterson died on 3-31-1959. James died on 10-3-1965 in Taylor Co., TX. Age 80.
