Daughter of Levi Phillips and Juliann (Jones) Denson. She married James John Virden (born 15 June 1855 in AL; died 29 January 1919 in Itawamba County MS) on 30 July 1877 in Cleburne County AL. There were 6 children born of this union: William P., Effie O., Vester P., Minnie D., Vera V., and James R. Virden. She was a sister to Seaborn McDaniel and Thomas Jackson Denson, who were both instrumental in the resurgence of Sacred Harp (fa-sol-la) singing throughout Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee in the early 1900s.
