The grandson of and named for, Lawrence Sullivan Ross, governor of Texas and president of Texas A&M.
Mr. Clarke was born in Bryan. He graduated from Waco High School and entered Texas A&M when he was 16. He was graduated in 1921.
He worked for Texas Power & Light Co. in Dallas and then served as general manager of Uvalde Production Credit Assn. for 23 years until illness forced his retirement in 1962.
Mr. Clarke also ranched near Junction and in Uvalde Co. He was past president of the Uvalde Lions Club and the Uvalde Music Assn. He headed the USO there during WW II.
Survivors: daughter, Mrs. R.A. Ball, sister Miss Elizabeth Ross Clarke, 2 grandchildren, 2 nieces, 1 nephew.
