Madison M. Riley, 82, of the 3100 block of Ballahack Road, a retired forestry consultant, died April 27, 1994, in Suffolk.

Mr. Riley was born in Gainesville, Ga., and was a Baptist. He retired from Georgia Pacific and was a member of the Society of American Foresters, the Princess Anne Historical Society, Virginia Historical Society, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, Wallaceton Ruritan Club and the Friday Club. He was former president of the Norfolk County Historical Society of Virginia and former board member of the Chesapeake Farm Bureau. He graduated from North Carolina State and did graduate work at Duke. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Metcalf Riley; a son, David Christopher Riley of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, Samuel Riley of Raleigh, N.C., and Rupert Riley of Long Beach, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Christopher Riley of Chesapeake and Alison Riley of Tennessee.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Frank Hughes, Jr. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
