Annie married Thomas Claggett Emmert on October 17, 1894 in Shepherdstown, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
It is not clear how the couple met, but Thomas's family had been in Washington County, Maryland, for nearly a century. Thomas's great-great-grandfather, Leonard Emmert, brought his family down from Berks County, Pennsylvania, after having served as a patriot in the Revolutionary War. Leonard was also a leader of the early Schwarzenau Brethren church in America.
Annie and Thomas had three children, but only two were still alive at the time of the 1900 federal census when the family lived at 125 North Street in Hagerstown, and when Thomas was employed as a salesman.
Annie died on June 2, 1901, probably in Hagerstown, when she was 33 years old. She was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.
