Capt., Co. A, 50th Virginia Infantry, CSA. Died of typhoid fever during the war.

Practicing attorney before enlistment; law partner of Patrick Hagan and Commonwealth's Attorney for Lee County.

Husband of Margaret G. "Maggie" Johnston Richmond, m. September 12, 1860 in Rockbridge Co, VA. After Jonathan's death, Maggie married John H. Hooper (Nov. 14, 1866, Rockbridge County, Virginia).

Jonathan Richmond Jr. was originally buried at the Old West End Cemetery on the right side Route 11 as you leave Wytheville, where baseball diamonds were later located. These graves were moved in 1959 to the new West End Cemetery about 1 1/2 miles southwest on Route 11.
