Thomas Huckins
A memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Roseburg National Cemetery for Thomas Clement Huckins of Roseburg, formerly of Lane County, who died Sept. 8 at age 85. The family chose not to list the cause of death.
He was born June 14, 1925, in Niagara, Wis., to Thomas and Mary Shaw Huckins. He married Lenore Clemo; the couple divorced in 1973. He married Barbara Strohm in 1974. After her death, he married Edith Curry in 1997.
He served in the Navy during World War II, from 1942 to 1945, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked in the logging industry as a logger.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jeannette Harrison of Mount Vernon, Beverly Harris of Dallas and Karen Swearingen of Redmond; a stepdaughter, Sherry Princen; a sister, [Martha] Ann Bosley; a brother, Kenneth; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren. A stepgrandson, Jeff, died previously.
