Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Sergeant in Company A, 1stPennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Paines Crossroads, Virginia onApril 5, 1865. His citation reads simply “Capture of flag”. His Medal was issued on May 3, 1865.
