E. E. Brent Called By Death At Winfield
Eugene Elias Brent was born, the son of Elias G. and M. Helen Stillman Brent, December 27, 1886 in Warren County, Illinois and departed this life from the Beauchamp Nursing Home in Winfield, February 26, 1966 at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 30 days.
On December 18, 1913, he was united in marriage to Lillie Mae Gabriel at the Methodist parsonage in Columbus Junction, Iowa. The couple started housekeeping on a farm near Crawfordsville, Iowa where they lived for about two years before moving to Conesville to engage in the restaurant business. After about one year in Conesville they moved to the Columbus Junction area where they farmed until retiring to Winfield in 1961.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Minnie Markley.
Surviving are his widow, two children, Rev. Arthur E. Brent of Ogden Iowa and Louesa C. Bush of Perry Arkansas, four grandchildren; four sisters, Hazel Buser of Muscatine, Flossie Davison of Bloomington, Illinois; Pearl Edgington and Frances Anderson both of California.
He was a member of the Winfield Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Methodist Church in Winfield with the pastor, the Rev. Robert Pattison, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Violet Chrisinger.
Casket bearers were: Franklin Gabriel, Farrel Gabriel, John C. Gabriel, Willard Patterson, Allan Goff and Gordon Bennett.
Interment Columbus City cemetery.
