OBITUARY
Our beloved brother, Frederick Gordin, was born in Clark county, June 10, 1827, and removed to Madison county in December, 1859. He was married to Huldah Barrett, March 8, 1849, and to them were given nine children, five of whom are yet living, four having preceded the father to that brighter and better world on high, also his beloved wife, who departed this life in the triumphs of living faith on December 31, 1895.
Our brother was called to his home on high, November 6, 1896, after a patient suffering of over two years and three months., all of which was full of the hope of life eternal, which God, who cannot die, promised before the world began.
Our brother was a man of much energy and sterling quality of character. Nearly 46 years ago he was called by the sovereign power and grace of his God to the enjoyment of a good hope in our blessed Redeemer, and on profession of his faith and hope he was received and baptised into the fellowship of the old school Baptist church, and between four and five years ago he was ordained a deacon of the Deercreek church, of which he was a worthy member.
Brother Gordin was a much beloved, kind and indulgent father, and a good neighbor and citizen. All knew him but to love and respect him, and we, his children, family, brethren of the church and neighbors, who are left to mourn, do not mourn as those who have no hope, believing that for him to live, was Christ but to die, was his eternal gain.
Submissive to Thy will, our God, to Thee our all resign;
Unto Thy loving hands we give our father dear, who was to us so kind.
May God bless and sanctify this sad bereavement and great loss to the dear family, the church and his many friends, much to their good for Jesus' sake.
