Debeque was taken to the Missouri Methodist Hospital in Clark's ambulance, where he died several hours later. Dr. C. S. Grant, who attended him at the hospital, said that his chest was crushed and that he had also suffered a fracture of the left leg, left arm and several ribs. Dr. Forrest Thomas, coroner, viewed the body and sent it to Clark's mortuary.
