Mount Carmel was organized by Reverend G.W. Evans, in November, 1890. The land was sold on October 14, 1891, by A.C. Hendricks and wife, Georgia Ann, to the following trustees for the Methodist Episcopal Church South: G.H. Holder, A.C. Hendricks, A.J. Grills, W.W. Haynes, and J.S. Haynes.
