Dr. Joel Green, b. 31 July 1780 at Westminister, Worcester Co., MA; d. 20 November 1849 at Wallingford, Rutland Co., Vermont.

1st marriage - 1804 at Brandon, Rutland Co., Vermont- Lucy Horton, b. 1786 Pittsford, Rutland Co., Vermont; d. 19 August 1818 at Rutland, Rutland Co., Vermont. Daughter of Hiram Horton & Sarah Drury.
Children with Dr. Joel Green:
1. Nancy Elizabeth Green, b. 1805 at Brandon, Rutland Co., VT; d. circa 1883 in Texas; m. circa 1858 in Rutland - Rev. Levi S. Tenney. They left for Texas right after their wedding.

2. Rolla Alonzo Green, b. 14 March 1807 at Brandon, Rutland Co., VT; d. 16 August 1850 at Greenville, Butler Co., Alabama; m. 23 March 1837 - Joanna Elizabeth Cooke (1820 - 1896).

3. Lucy Columbia Green, b. 1808 at Brandon; d. 1808 at Brandon, VT.

4. Helen A. Green, b. 1810 at Brandon, Rutland Co., VT; d. 11 May 1826 at Rutland, Rutland Co., VT.

5. Lucy Columbia Green, b. 9 January 1816 at Brandon; d. 13 December 1889 at Rutland, Rutland Co., VT.

2nd m for Dr. Joel Green - 30 January 1820 at Windsor, Rutland Co., VT- Euletheria Dunham Fay, b. 7 June 1798 at Barnard, Windsor Co., VT; d. 5 April 1831 at Rutland, Rutland Co., VT. She was the natural daughter of Moses Fay (1763-1829) & Sarah "Sally" Hedge (1768 - 1831). At age 12, Euletheria (even though her parents were still living) was adopted by Colonel Josiah Dunham who served as the Secretary of State for Vermont (1813-1815). He may have been Euletheria's uncle.
Children for Dr. Joel Green & Euletheria:

1. Euletheria Charlotte Green, b. October 1821 at Rutland, Rutland Co., VT; d. 1866 at Falls Co., Texas. Her grave has not been located, but I suspect she is buried with her brother, George Edwin Green, in the Churchill Jones Family Cemetery in Falls Co., Texas. The cemetery is on private property and it appears it has never been inventoried. In early 1842 Charlotte went to Conecuh Co., Alabama, to teach in the Evergreen Academy where her uncle was the Headmaster. Within months she fell in love with one of her students, Samuel Christopher "Samson" Young, b. 1819 in Alabama; d. 1863 at Falls Co., Texas. I suspect he is buried with Charlotte in the Churchill Jones Family Cemetery. They were married on 18 September 1842 at Conecuh Co., Alabama. After Samuel died in 1863, Charlotte m. William F. McMullen (1820-1866) on 14 July 1854 at Falls Co., Texas. I suspect that McMullen is also buried in the Churchill Jones Family Cemetery in Falls Co., Texas.

2. Dr. Josiah Dunham Green, b. 22 December 1823 at Rutland, Rutland Co., VT; d. 11 February 1887 at Northhampton, Hampshire Co., MA; m. in 1855 - Emily Dewey Cook (1823-1902).

3. Mary H. Green, b. 1824 at Rutland, Rutland Co., VT; d. after 1880 at Castleton, Rutland Co., VT; m. on 2 January 1844 - Benjamin Wales Burt (1821-1886).

4. George Edwin Green, b. 3 September 1828 at Castleton, Rutland Co., VT; d. 6 July 1856 at Marlin, Falls Co., Texas (Tuberculosis). He is buried in the Churchill Jones Family Cemetery. Married on 25 December 1850 at Marlin, Falls Co., Texas - Sarah Kendrick Jones (daughter of Churchill Jones), b. 29 November 1833 at Evergreen, Conecuh Co., AL; d. 28 June 1914 at Marlin, Falls Co., Texas; bu. in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin. George Edwin Green was co-owner of Green & Bartlett Mercantile; the largest business in Marlin during the 1850s.
