Clara Anna Haas was born in Wellington, KS to George and Mattie Stephenson on March 6, 1922 and passed away on September 3, 2010 in OKC of natural causes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Newton Richard and her sister Mary Francis.

She was educated at Ottawa University, Ottawa, KS. Her personal career started right out of college to become a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, with Boeing Aircraft. After retiring from a 29-year career with Western Electric she remained active as a volunteer with the AT&T Pioneers and Weokie Credit Union. Later she became active as a worker and leader in programs assisting the elderly in OK. She was a member of the OK Silver Haired Legislature serving as Speaker Pro-Tem. She served as a Silver Haired Senator representing the State of OK. She was a delegate several times to the White House Conference on Aging in Washington, DC. She hosted "Senior Speaks" WKY's weekly radio talk show addressing senior concerns. She was active in the Democratic Party and served as chair and co-chair of OK County Democrats. She served on the State Council on the Task Force on Volunteerism under Governor David Walters. She received the Leadership Award of the National Council on Social Security and Medicare 2001. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary holding numerous local and state offices. She was an active volunteer at the Veteran's Administration playing the organ weekly for Sunday chapel services. She received the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge Award for service to our country and veterans.

She is survived by a sister Ruth Barlow and husband Joe of Houston, TX; three children, a son Jim Haas and wife Sandy of Laguna Vesta, TX; a daughter Ruby Haas of Atlanta, GA; and a son Joe Haas and wife Marilyn of Edmond; four grandchildren, Valerie Russell and husband Kris of OKC, Melissa Ketchum and husband Brian of Edmond, Joe Haas and wife Chrysta of Sherman, TX, and Tom Haas of Laguna Vesta, TX; four great-grandchildren, Kyler and Callie Ketchum of Edmond and Major and Avery Russell of OKC.

Memorial service: Thursday, September 23 at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N. May Ave., OKC 73134.
