Croft, Sr., 65, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC after a brief illness. Mr. Croft was born March 8, 1945, in Bamberg County. He was the son of Mrs. Vinell Hiott Croft and the late George Judson Croft. He was retired from the Bamberg Textile Mills as a foreman. He served in the National Guard. Mr. Croft was a member of the Main Street Methodist Church of Bamberg. He was also an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved to joke around with his kids and grandkids. He is survived by his wife Doris Lott Croft of the home, one son, Joey Croft and wife, Katie, of Bamberg; one daughter, Mrs. Ernie Carroll (Lynn) of Bamberg; mother, Vinell Hiott Croft of Bamberg; three sisters, Hazel Croft Bolen of Collins, Ga., Lois Croft Kirby of Bamberg and Helen Croft Padgett of Bamberg; three grandsons, Ernie Carroll Jr., Mark Barnes II, and Joey Croft Jr.; a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Billy F. Croft Jr. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, in the chapel of the Mercer Funeral Home, Denmark, with Dr. Wash Black Belangia and the Rev. Herbert Thomas officiating. Burial will be in South End Cemetery, Bamberg. Pallbearers will be Ernie Carroll Jr., Joey Croft Jr., Mark Barnes II, Allen Fisk, Fairey Padgett, Kim Fisk and Timmy Lott. Friends may call at the residence, 375 Beard St., Bamberg. Mercer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
