Mr. Bixler, who had owned and operated Bixler Lumber Company, Columbus, had been a member of the Newbern Methodist Church, Hope Masonic Lodge, where he had also served a past master, and Order of Eastern Star.
A son of Roy and Jeanette (Blake) Bixler, he was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Bartholomew County. He was married in 1945 to Marjorie Adams, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Paul Bixler, Columbus, daughters, Janet Mings, Scipio, and Sue Smith and Hope Collins, both Columbus; five grandchildren; sisters Ruth Jessee, Columbus, and Naomi Arlington, Arizona; and a brother, Guy Bixler, Hope. He was preceded in death by a son, daughter, and brother.
